Email Again

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

A couple of months ago I wrote on a very basic topic and that was using the email address associated with your domain.  It’s more professional and is free advertising.  Now I’m finding that people who otherwise handle themselves professionally are sending out emails without signature lines.  It doesn’t do any good to tell me to give you a call if I don’t have your number at the bottom of the page and the name of your business etc. Sure I might have your card around somewhere but do you want to take the chance that I want to get a hold of you badly enough to go rummaging for your card. No – you want to create a signature that says who you are, your company name, tag lines if you want, phone numbers, email address and web address.  Other things can be added but this is the minimum you must have.  Again, it’s free advertising, It’s what’s expected and it’s a must. So do it.

In the Microsoft family of mail products this can easily be done by clicking on Tools – and then choosing Options. Click on the tab that’s labeled Mail Format and choose the Signatures section.  Create a signature that represents you and your business. Make sure that new mail has the signature you created associated with it and you will be good to go.

Now when you ask that someone call you they’ll be able to.
